Eric M. Rubin
Mr. Rubin is generally acknowledged as the nation’s leading authority on outdoor advertising law, and he is recognized for developing outdoor advertising as a distinct area of media law. In 2005, he received the Miles Standish Award, the Outdoor Advertising Association of America’s highest honor, for extraordinary contributions to outdoor advertising over the course of his career. Mr. Rubin has published and spoken extensively on outdoor advertising law and other legal issues, including sports law. He served for 18 years as the General Counsel of the NBA’s Seattle Supersonics. Mr. Rubin is of counsel to the firm, which he co-founded with James Winston in 1981.
Prior to establishing the firm, Mr. Rubin was a partner at Wolf, Block, Schorr and Solis-Cohen LLP. Earlier, he held a number of positions in government service at both national and state levels. At the Federal Trade Commission, he served as the Assistant Director for Compliance in the Bureau of Consumer Protection, where he received the FTC’s Distinguished Service Award. Before joining the FTC, Mr. Rubin was Assistant to the Chair of the New York State Public Service Commission. He earlier served on the staff of the Executive Office of the U.S. President, where he participated in the government reorganization that created the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Office of Management and Budget. Mr. Rubin began his legal career as an attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice, Criminal and Antitrust Division.
